Good morning parents/guardians,

Thank you to all for a great return and start to the 2023-2024 school year!  Students returned this past Thursday and spent two days getting to know the building, their teachers, and new classmates.  It was awesome to have life and energy back in the building!

 Homeroom and Option Change Requests

We are currently not taking requests for homeroom changes.  As stated in our introductory email, our class sizes are large.  We are also taking numerous new enrollments each day.  Students without homerooms and classes get priority.  Thank you for your understanding.

Students who are missing options in Term 1 and Term 2 should see Mr. Bhardwaj during the option period they are missing to be enrolled into a class. These students are the current priority for registration. Students who desire to switch options can see Mr. Bhardwaj during lunch this week. Many options classes across all grades are full and we can only make changes if there is space available.

We are not taking option change requests for Term 3 and Term 4 until January of 2024.

MyCBE / PowerSchool Account

A MyCBE / Powerschool account provides parents/guardians and students seamless access to information and transactions using a modern and effective technology platform. Parents/guardians have online access to:

• view their children’s academic information (schedule, grades and attendance).
• register for transportation and noon supervision.
• pay fees and request fee waivers.
• book school conferences.

 Athletics Update

Cross Country Running: Our season starts right away!  All interested students (all grades and abilities welcome) please come to the Foods room (184) at lunch time on Tuesday, September 5 for an informational meeting.

Basketball Season starts Monday, September 11.  MSS will run Jr./Sr. Girls and Jr./Sr. Boys teams.  Tryout dates and times will be posted around the school and on the athletics website.

Once teams are created - the MSS spectator policy for home games will be sent to parents/guardians via the weekly update and posted to the athletics page of our website.

MSS School Clothing and Swag Online Store

We are very excited to offer students/staff/parents/guardians the opportunity to purchase school swag with our new name & logo (River Wolves) in the coming weeks.

Once the website is ready, the link will be sent via the weekly update and posted on our website.

Cafeteria Service Returns Tuesday, September 5

Our cafeteria will reopen on Tuesday.  We offer a daily special along with a variety of hot and cold options.  The cafeteria runs Monday-Thursday throughout the school year.  There is no cafeteria service on Fridays as these are early dismissal days.

We also have two vending machines that contain drinks and snacks.

23-24 Yearbook Cover Art Contest

Calling all artists!  We are seeking submissions for this year's Yearbook cover.  Eligible submissions must include:

• Regular size (8.5”x 11”) paper.
• Must include the school name: Marshall Springs.
• Use of our logo and mascot is encouraged (River Wolves).
• Must include the year: 2023-2024.
• Full colour.
• Flat (do not add elements that stick off the page).
• Appropriate, polished work.
• Include your name and grade.

Submission deadline is Friday, November 3, 2023 to Mrs. Hartling in the Foods room (or her mailbox in the office).  Thanks for your interest and participation!

Volunteering Opportunities at MSS 23-24

We are seeking volunteers throughout the year for field trips for all grades.  Our first field trips will be running at the end of September! If you are interested in volunteering at any point, please come to the office to start the registration process.  It can take a few weeks for paperwork to clear the system so we strongly encourage you to come in ASAP!  Volunteers are invaluable and necessary for our field trips to run.  We are grateful for your time and appreciate your consideration and support.
