ACTION Required | Complete Online forms by September 14, 2026

Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians / independent students are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. If you have already completed your annual forms, you can disregard this message.

In CBE, the forms in an online format (SchoolEngage) are:

• Demographic Verification - 2026-27 – This required form is an Alberta Education and Childcare requirement as proof of Registration for funding purposes and includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.

• Citizenship Information Update - 2026-27 – This form becomes available and is required to complete if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.

• Annual Authorization - 2026-27 – Combines the following forms:

    • School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.
    • Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.
    • Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties
    • Consent for Student Participation in Annual CBE Surveys – these surveys support school and system planning and help improve programs and supports offered to students
    • Parental Opt-In for Notifiable curriculum for students in grades 3 to 9 – written consent of parents prior to providing instructions or materials that deal primarily and explicitly with human sexuality, gender identity or sexual orientation. Students are unable to participate in this portion of the curriculum unless consent is granted.

SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account used to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, register to volunteer etc. If you do not have a MyCBE account, click Create a MyCBE Account on the MyCBE page. For online help, refer to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).

To complete these forms:

1. Sign in to your MyCBE account.

2. Click on the SchoolEngage icon.

3. Select the form.

4. Complete or review and update the form.

5. Click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school.

6. Repeat steps 3-5 for each form.

Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, Sep. 14.  These forms are mandatory every year for Alberta Education and Childcare to confirm student funding. If you have any questions, please contact us at 403-817-3528.

Grade 7,8,9 Band Instrument Rental Summary

All grade 7, 8, and 9 students participating in the Instrumental Music (Band) program are required to rent an approved instrument unless they have their own. School-owned instruments are available for a $100 annual rental fee and typically include larger instruments such as trombone, saxophone, bass clarinet, euphonium, tuba, bass, French horn, and percussion. Students playing flute, trumpet, or clarinet will need to rent through a music store, with Long & McQuade being our primary rental provider; instruments can be rented online and delivered to the school. Families who prefer to use St. John’s Music may do so by picking up the instrument directly from the store. A detailed letter has been sent home with students outlining the procedures for instrument rentals. Please contact Ms. Biggar if you have questions or to confirm that any personally owned instrument is approved for Concert Band.

Walking Trips 2026-2027

The CBE values the educational benefits of field trips. Field trips near our school can complement classroom learning by allowing students to explore the surrounding community. Please be advised that the process for trips within walking distance of the school has been simplified, with the exception of restricted activities such as swimming. As parents/guardians, you will no longer need to fill out a consent form for your child to go on a class trip within walking distance from the school, for example, to a local park. The Principal determines the appropriate walking distance, and it may vary depending on the age of the students.

Teachers who are planning walking trips with their classes will communicate with parents/guardians/families via school messenger 48-72 hours in advance of the trip.
