Student Behaviour Expectations - 1 month Review
As we are now ~six weeks into the school year, I would like to take some time to review student behaviour expectations. We have unfortunately seen an increase in inappropriate behaviours that have lead to an increase in disruptions to teaching and learning and also an increase in progressive student discipline measures facilitated by the school. Please review the following points and documents with your child(ren) - teachers will also be reviewing these student expectations during our next homeroom session.
- Keep your hands and feet to yourself at all times. You do not need to be intentionally touching other people.
- This behaviour leads to ~90% of student issues that we deal with.
- Do not touch/take things that do not belong to you.
- Toys do not belong at school.
- We are seeing an increase in toy weapons that are either bought somewhere and/or 3D printed being brought to school.
- Weapons of any kind (real, fake, toys, plastic etc.) are not allowed at MSS anytime, for any reason.
- We are seeing an increase in toy weapons that are either bought somewhere and/or 3D printed being brought to school.
- Do not intentionally disrupt teaching and learning.
- Support positive interactions with all students, staff, substitute teachers and volunteers.
- Respect the building by cleaning up after yourself.
- Treat our school equipment with respect.
- We have already spent over $1500 repairing damaged classroom technology due to silliness and/or intentional actions.
- Personal mobile devices (cell phones, Meta glasses, gaming systems, tablets etc.) are not to be out and/or used during instructional time.
- AR 6005 | Student Code of Conduct.
- AR 6006 | Progressive Student Discipline.
- AR 6031 | Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning and Work Environments.
Your help and support with this matter is greatly appreciated.
