Changes to Lunch for MSS Students

Starting on Monday, November 6, students will not be required to go outside; however, it is still recommended that students go out for fresh air and sunshine whenever possible.  All MSS students still have the option to go outside at lunch.

All Students:

  • When indoors, students should remain in designated areas: Cafeteria, Gym or Learning Commons (during assigned times), supervised classrooms, or main floor hallways.
  • Please keep the school clean. Clean up any mess and put garbage, recycling, and compost in the appropriate containers.
  • Please continue to follow the school’s behaviour expectations and help Marshall Springs remain a respectful and welcoming place for everyone.
  • When off property in the community at lunch, students still need to follow the CBE Student Code of Conduct.
  • The only doors that will be open at lunch will be the main doors for re-entry to the school.
    • Students/staff inside are not to let students into the building through any other doors.

Grade 6:

  • [New] Grade 6s can stay inside during the first half of lunch if they choose. They will have access to designated cafeteria tables at the North side of the foyer for the first half of lunch. They can also stay in hallways on the main floor and supervised classrooms on the main or second floor.
  • Grade 6s can still go outside during the first half of lunch.
  • Grade 6s still need to check-in and stay at the cafeteria tables in the foyer for the second half of lunch. When students are outside for first half, supervisors will continue to blow their whistles to signal grade 6s to report to the cafeteria.

Grade 7-9:

  • Grade 7-9 will still have access to the cafeteria during the first half of lunch.
  • When lunchroom supervisors signal the halfway point of lunch, the grade 7-9 will still need to clear the cafeteria tables.
  • [New] Grade 7-9s can stay inside during the second half of lunch. They need to stay in hallways on the main floor or in supervised classrooms on the main or second floor.

Telus Be Brave Hitmen Hockey Game Sign-Up Survey

Marshall Springs will be attending the Telus Be Brave Hitmen hockey game on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 as part of Anti-Bullying Week / Pink Shirt Day.  We will be departing the school at 9:30am and returning at 2:30pm.  We have received a total of 200 student tickets for this game.  Cost will be $25...this covers transportation, a ticket to the game, and a Telus Be Brave T-Shirt.  If we receive more than 200 student applications, a random draw will take place.  Our goal is to have 50 students/grade attend the game.

Students received the link to the survey today in Marshall Time through Google Classroom.  Please only fill out the survey if you would like to go to the game and you want your name entered in the draw.

Survey closes Wednesday, November 8th @ 3:20pm.
