Best wishes to you and your family as we are a week into the new year! We are excited for the return of staff and students on Monday, January 5. The main office will re-open at 845am.

Upcoming Dates

  • Monday, January 5:
    • Classes resume for all MSS students.
    • Gr. 6 | New Option (H3) classes begin.
    • Volleyball Season Begins.
  • Tuesday, January 6:
    • SPRINGS Time sessions begin (1-1-1).
  • Thursday, January 8:
    • SPRINGS Time session (1-1-2).
  • Friday, January 9:
    • Wildlife 9 field trip | Calgary Climbing Centre.

SPRINGS TIME Sessions

Springs time sessions will begin for all students in January and occur weekly on Tuesday/Thursday (30 minutes) for the remainder of the school year. The main focuses of springs time sessions are literacy and numeracy. Through evidence of learning, teachers offer sessions and directly invite students to receive additional support. If students are not directly invited to receive support in literacy and/or numeracy, they will be able to choose from "open" sessions that include fine arts, performing arts, phys. ed, CTF, and languages.

All students, regardless of achievement levels, will receive direct invites and have the option to choose during springs time sessions through the remainder of the year.

Athletics Update

Volleyball season runs from January 5 - March 22, 2026. MSS will have 2 teams in league play: 1 girls team (Gr. 6-9) and 1 boys team (Gr. 6-9).

These will be cut teams. For student-athletes not selected to play on these teams, there will be development opportunities run through HPE and intramurals.

Human Sexuality Consent Forms

A gentle reminder that parental consent forms must be signed and returned for students to be able to participate in the human sexuality module of health and physical education. Forms for all grades were sent home multiple times before the winter holidays. Please returned the signed consent form to your Homeroom teacher ASAP. These modules will begin January 2026.

2025-2026 MSS Yearbook

Congratulations to our yearbook cover art winners!  Our front cover winner is Sofia G. from 9-1 and our back cover winner is Yuan N. from Grade 9.  Thank you to everyone who entered!  All other art will be featured inside the yearbook.  Original art will be returned later in the school year.

All orders are completed online through the Jostens website.  Yearbooks will be distributed in late June.
