Good morning and happy weekend MSS families,

Another five (5) day week of learning ahead. It looks to be a great start to the week with plus temperatures continuing, but a return of cold and snow to finish the week. As always, please ensure that your child is prepared for the weather and has a back-up plan if they take a school bus to MSS.

Also, please note the Friday, January 30, 2026 is a Non-Instructional Day - there are no classes for students.

Semester #2 Options (Complimentary Course) Change REQUEST

If you would like to request an option change for semester #2, please use the link below. Please remember - this is a request...there are no guarantees that your request will be approved. Many options classes are near or at capacity. This is applicable to grade 7,8,9 students only.

  • Students must be logged into their CBE Gmail accounts to access the form. Requests for access from other types of email accounts will not be accepted. 
  • In addition, parents/guardians must email Mr. Bhardwaj (hibhardwaj@cbe.ab.ca) to support the requested change. 
  • Deadline for requests is Friday, January 23.
  • Semester #2 starts Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Important: If you are missing an option for semester #2 (you have an empty space in your schedule) please see Mr. Bhardwaj in the main office during a nutrition break or lunch break.

MSS School Council Grant - Parent/Guardian Survey

Hi Parents/Guardians! We need you input! Please complete this survey, it will take only 2 minutes to complete. Marshall Springs School Council received a grant from the CBE for the use of improving parent involvement and engagement. These funds may be applied towards the following activities:

  1. Workshops for parents to increase school council capacity;
  2. Parent resources (i.e. mental health, cyber bullying, healthy living etc.);
  3. Events to engage parents on important local issues;
  4. Conference fees;
  5. And more. 

Deadline to complete the survey is January 25, 2026. The survey can be accessed HERE.

Centennial High School Open House

CHS will be holding their annual open house on Thursday, January 29, 2026. All current grade 9 MSS students who are designated to attend CHS for grade 10 are encouraged to attend with their parents/guardians. Doors open at 630pm with the formal program running from 700-900pm.

DEPS will be holding their annual open house on Thursday, January 29, 2026. All current grade 9 MSS students who are designated to attend DEPS for grade 10 are encouraged to attend with their parents/guardians. Doors open at 515pm with the formal program running from 530-730pm.

Our next pizza fundraiser dates are Wednesday, January 21 and Wednesday, February 18. 15% of regular priced menu item orders comes back to MSS. These funds will support the wide variety of activities and events we are able to provide our students and community.

Athletics Update

Thank you to all students who tried out and congratulations to students selected to play for an MSS volleyball team this year! Volleyball season runs from January 5 - March 22, 2026. MSS will have 2 teams in league play: 1 girls team (Gr. 6-9) and 1 boys team (Gr. 6-9). Now that team are finalized, regular practices will begin with league games following shortly there after.

For student-athletes not selected to play on these teams, there will be development opportunities run through HPE and lunch time activities.

2025-2026 MSS Yearbook

The final date for yearbook personalization is January 30, 2026.  If your student wishes to have their yearbook personalized (for example, their name on the cover), the order must be placed by January 30, 2026 to have this option available for purchase.
