A three (3) day week of learning ahead for students as employees will be participating in the ATA Teachers Convention and Staff Association (SA) Convention on February 15-16.  February 15-16 are non-instructional days for students – the school is closed.  Also, Monday, February 19 is Family Day – the school is closed.

• Tuesday, February 13:
  • Sr. Girls Volleyball Games at 4:45pm @ Lakeshore.
• Wednesday, February 14:
  • Jr. Boys Volleyball Games at 4:00pm @ Sam Shaw.
  • Sr. Boys Volleyball Games at 4:00pm @ MSS.
• February 15-16:
  • Teachers’ Convention.
  • No School for Students.
• Monday, February 19:
  • Family Day – School is Closed.
• Tuesday, February 20:
  • Classes resume for all MSS Students.

Teachers Convention / Family Day

The last day of regular classes for all MSS students is Wednesday, February 14.  February 15-16 are non-instructional days for students while Monday, January 19 is Family Day – the school is closed.

Regular classes resume for all MSS students on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

Staffing Updates

We have received additional funding and are able to add another teaching position to our staff.  Please note the following changes starting on Monday, February 12.  Students were notified of these changes on Friday.

• Ms. Hilary Juzwishyn has accepted a temporary contract at MSS for the remainder of the 23-24 school year.
• Ms. Juzwishyn will be taking over the following classes:
  • Ms. Trip: 8-1, 8-3, 8-4, 8-6 Social Studies.
  • Ms. Hansen: 9-5 Social Studies.

Ms. Juzwishyn has supported teaching and learning at MSS for a number of years and has taught both the Gr. 8/9 Social Studies curriculum numerous times.

Both Ms. Trip and Ms. Hansen will be staying at MSS and taking on increased roles with full school literacy and EAL support.  They will also continue to support Ms. Juzwishyn as she steps in to lead the classes listed above.

MSS Swag/Apparel Online Store – NOW OPEN!

The MSS online apparel store will be open from February 5 - 20, 2024.  Orders are shipped directly to the school and will be distributed during the last week of March before Spring Break. Browse through all the apparel - Phys. Ed. clothing, Adult Apparel, Youth Apparel, and Accessories. New items have been added for the 2023-2024 school year along with our new name and logo.

The online store will be available one final time this year in April/May.

Gr. 9 Performing Arts Field Trip – Volunteers Needed

We have a Grade 9 field trip March 7th!  We are going to Theatre Calgary for "As You Like It: The Beatles Meet the Bard".  We are seeking parent volunteers who have security clearance to come with us on the trip.  Please contact your child's homeroom teacher as soon as possible if you are able to support.

If you would like to volunteer for future opportunities at MSS but do not have a security clearance, please contact the main office to begin the process.
