Here we are...the last week before winter holidays. The upcoming week has 5 (five) days of learning and numerous winter themed events for students and staff. As we witnessed last week, the cold of winter has arrived and can come and go at any time. Please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather. Also, for students who take a school bus. Cold Weather Reminders
Winter weather has arrived! Please review the following winter weather reminders. This information can also be found on the MSS website and the CBE website.
School doors open at 905am daily. If the weather is colder than -20C (including wind chill), school doors will open between 830-845am with students waiting in the main foyer before classes begin.
Human Sexuality Consent Forms
A gentle reminder that parental consent forms must be signed and returned for students to be able to participate in the human sexuality module of health and physical education. Forms for all grades were sent home before the strike, and again once in-person learning resumed. Please returned the signed consent form to your Homeroom teacher ASAP. These modules will begin January 2026.
2025-2026 MSS Yearbook
Congratulations to our yearbook cover art winners! Our front cover winner is Sofia G. from 9-1 and our back cover winner is Yuan N. from Grade 9. Thank you to everyone who entered! All other art will be featured inside the yearbook. Original art will be returned later in the school year.

Athletics Update
The fall athletics wind-up celebration was last week - congratulations and thank you to all our fall calendar student athletes (Cross-country running, Soccer, Basketball, Wrestling).
Volleyball is the next event on the athletics calendar. The Season of Play for volleyball is January 5 - March 22, 2026. This year, MSS will have 2 teams (1 boys, 1 girls). All students (grade 6-9) are able to try-out for these teams. For students who are not selected to play on these teams, there will be developmental opportunities through Phys Ed. classes and intramurals.
***Due to a change in legislation by the Government of Alberta, all girls wanting to try-out and play for a school based girls team must sign and return the gender verification form. This form will be available from coaches December 15-19, 2026.
