Good morning parents/guardians,

This coming week will have four (4) days of learning as the school is closed on April 18 for Good Friday. There are also no classes for MSS students on April 21 as this is a non-instructional day. This coming week looks to bring a great deal on sunshine and temperatures in the mid-teens. As the weather improves, teachers will begin to utilize our great outdoor spaces for learning. Please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather.

Spring Spirit Week: April 14-17, 2025

Our Spring Spirit Week at MSS will run from April 14–17, and students are invited to show their school spirit with fun daily themes:

  • Monday, April 14: Shades of You – wear your favourite colour
  • Tuesday, April 15: Tropical Takeover – dress like you're on vacation
  • Wednesday, April 16: Nap Nation – PJs and bedhead day
  • Thursday, April 17: Wolf Pack Day – wear MSS gear or orange and blue

The week wraps up with our Pep Rally on Thursday, April 17, a chance to celebrate school pride and highlight our incredible community. As part of Wolf Pack Day, homerooms will be acknowledged for their creativity, enthusiasm, and overall spirit at the Pep Rally.

To support the Calgary Food Bank, students can donate at lunch by the main office on April 14–16. As a thank-you, donors will be recognized through our VIP Thank You initiative. Two students per grade will be selected to enjoy a VIP Pep Rally experience, special seating, snacks, and drinks, with a friend as a small token of our gratitude for helping support those in need.

Thank you for encouraging your student to get involved, give back, and help make Spirit Week meaningful for our school and community!

Transportation Service and Bell Time Changes for 2025-2026 School Year

For the 2025-2026 school year, the CBE will be expanding yellow bus service and adjusting walk zones. This is in response to Alberta Education’s School Transportation Amendment Regulation that comes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025. This means many more students will become eligible to take the bus.

The Bell Times for the 2025-2026 school year at MSS are as follows:

  • Monday-Thursday: 9:15am - 3:55pm.
    • Doors to the school will open at 9:05am.
  • Friday: 9:15am-12:45pm.
    • Doors to the school will open at 9:05am.

More information on changes to transportation services and bell time changes in the CBE and at MSS can be found HERE.

Federal Election - Monday, April 28

Marshall Springs is a polling station for the upcoming federal election on Monday, April 28. The main gym and aux. gym will be used by Elections Canada on this day. No students or classes will be in this section of the building. Phys. Ed classes will be outdoors (weather dependent) or in other learning spaces.

We are working with Elections Canada and CBE facilities to ensure minimal impact to the regular school day.
