Provincial Achievement Tests are based on what students have been learning throughout the school year.

Athletics Update - Track & Field

Our Track and Field Meet is quickly approaching on June 8th! We are so excited by the number of athletes interested in representing the Marshall Springs River Wolves, and we know they will make us proud!

To help make this event a success, we are currently looking for multiple parent volunteers. If you are available and willing to help out, please contact Lana Gibbs (lagibbs@cbe.ab.ca) as soon as possible.

Your support would include:

  • Cheering on our athletes.
  • Supervising student/athletes.
  • Encouraging athletes to get to their events on time and checking times regularly.
  • Helping ensure athletes are eating and staying hydrated throughout the day.
  • Bathroom Supervision.

Thank you for supporting our athletes and school community!

Clarification - Noon Hour Activity Fee

The Noon Hour Activity Fee has now been posted to parent accounts. Please note that this is not a new fee, as it has been charged each year to support our lunchroom program and student activities during the noon hour. Since we run a lunchroom program and provide students with access to a variety of activities and equipment during the lunch hour, we charge a lunchroom fee to help cover replacement costs and continue building and improving our programs and options for students over time.

In past years, these funds have supported the purchase of lunchroom tables, sports equipment, Chromebooks/computers, books, board games, exercise bikes, and other shared items that students can access during lunch. These resources are especially valuable during inclement weather when students remain indoors, and even more so with the current cell phone use expectations in schools.

This year, we have also focused on enhancing our outdoor spaces. Over the summer, we refreshed our courtyard by removing excess garden areas and adding new plants reflective of the Indigenous Medicine Wheel. We are currently in the process of purchasing new seating for the courtyard and are exploring additional exterior seating and outdoor learning spaces for students to enjoy during lunch and instructional times. We also continue to refresh outdoor sports equipment and library resources on a regular basis each year.

While we may not be able to complete every project within a single school year, funds collected are prioritized based on student and school needs, and projects will continue into future years as funding allows. Our goal is to ensure these fees directly benefit the students attending Marshall Springs School. Although individual students may choose not to participate in every activity or use every resource available, all students have access to these opportunities should they wish to participate. For this reason, the fee applies to all students.
