Good morning parents/guardians,
What a tremendous weekend we are having. Hopefully, you were able to enjoy the sunshine and great temperatures. This is our final week of learning before Spring Break. Please note that this is a four (4) day week of learning for students as Friday, March 22 is a non-instructional day.
The first two days of this coming week look great, but the weather turns cold with snow starting Wednesday. Please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather.

Spring Break Spirit Week
Our Marshall Springs March Spirit week kicked off Friday, March 15, with the Volleyball Pep Rally and Home Room Colour Day. During the upcoming week, we will continue to have some fun demonstrating school spirit with:
- Be a Star, Character Day (Monday, March 18).
- Barbie, Ken & Friends (Tuesday, March 19).
- Pajama Day (Wednesday, March 20).
- Bring in the Spring (Thursday, March 21).
Marshall Springs School Engagement Survey: 2024 - 2025 Planning
The annual planning survey is currently open and will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Student Progress Conferences (SPCs): March 21 - 22, 2024
Our next round of SPCs will be held on March 21-22:
- Thursday, March 21:
- Full day of school for students – regular Thursday schedule.
- Last day of classes before Spring Break.
- SPCs: 4:00-8:00pm
- In-Person: Main Gym.
- Friday, March 22:
- Non-Instructional Day: NO School for Students.
- SPCs: 8:30am-3:00pm
- Virtual conferences through Microsoft Teams.
- There are no in-person conferences on this day.
As with the first round of SPCs this year, we will be using an online booking system. The online system will be open for booking on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 @ 8:00am. In order to book student progress conferences, you will need a MyCBE account.

Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI)
On Thursday, we held our Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) finals where three groups of students presented their chosen charities to the grade 8s, 9s, staff and community members.
- The $5000 grant provided by YPI will be going to ARKs - Accessibility Renovations for Kids.
- Heartbeats will receive a donation from funds raised by students here at Marshall Springs.
- An anonymous donation has been made to LUNA Youth Advocacy Center.
We thank all grade 9 students for their hard work with Calgary grassroots charities.
Athletics Update
Congratulation to all four of our volleyball teams who concluded their seasons last week. A special thank you to coaches for your time and dedication to providing extra-curricular opportunities for MSS students.
- Jr. Boys – reached playoff semi-finals.
- Jr. Girls – reached playoff semi-finals.
- Sr. Boys – 2nd place finish.
- Sr. Girls – division champions.
Badminton season starts Tuesday, April 2 once students return from Spring break.
