Good morning parents/guardians,
Happy Easter and welcome back from Spring Break! Staff are excited to get back to learning as we are now in the final three months of the school year. The weather this week is giving us everything – sunshine and warmth as we return, but potential for a significant amount snow for the end of the week. As always, students need to be dressed for the weather and also prepared to be outside for Phys. Ed. and Outdoor Ed. classes.

- Junior (Gr. 6/7) Badminton Try-outs: 3:15 - 4:15pm.
- Coaches: Ms. Sattin & Ms. Ratnayake.
- Tuesday: April 9:
- Intermediate (Gr. 8) Badminton Try-outs: 3:15 - 4:15pm.
- Coach: Mr. Fontaine.
UPDATE | Gr. 6 & 9 Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs)
Alberta Education has announced that Grade 6 English language arts and literature (ELAL) and mathematics provincial achievement tests will not be administered in the 2023/2024 school year.
Alberta Education will instead offer field testing between April and June 2024. These optional field tests will be on Vretta and will help inform the development of future PATs for Grade 6 English language arts and literature and mathematics that align with new curriculum in these subjects.
It is important to note that Science 6 and Social Studies 6 PATs will still be administered using Vretta for all Grade 6 CBE students in June 2024. All Grade 9 PATs will also continue to be administered using Vretta in May/June of 2024.
Updated PAT schedules and information will be shared with parents/guardians in next week’s weekly update.
Athletics Update
We have two seasons left this school year. The badminton season of play is April 2 – May 21 and Track & Field runs mid-May to early June.
Coaches for badminton are as follows:
- Junior (Gr. 6/7): Ms. Sattin & Ms. Ratnayake.
- Intermediate (Gr. 8): Mr. Fontaine.
- Senior (Gr. 9): Ms. Hartling.
Further try-outs dates/times will be posted in the school. Students who are interested can also speak directly to the coach.
